Our Story

High school sweethearts Jami and Mike founded Megna Painting after a journey that began over twenty years ago in their school's marching band. Their first interaction came before a football game performance - Mike approached Jami who was carrying her banner, with a playful offer of help that she confidently declined.

After high school, both attended college, though neither found their academic path particularly fulfilling. They went onto various careers- Jami working in healthcare while Mike pursued sales. With his entrepreneurial spirit, Mike went on to start several small businesses and it was the support of Jami that helped them navigate the early challenges and learning experiences.

Mike's introduction to painting came unexpectedly when a friend asked if he'd be interested in some painting work. Despite growing up in a family of tradespeople and never planning to enter the trades himself, Mike agreed to paint a few houses for extra income. He quickly discovered his natural talent, and opportunities began presenting themselves. A larger painting company recognized his abilities, promoting him rapidly from painter to crew leader to commercial estimator—all within just one year.

When that company faced difficulties and closed, Mike found himself laid off while Jami was pregnant with their first child. Rather than seeing this as a setback, the couple recognized an opportunity. With Mike's valuable skills and industry knowledge, and after months of planning, they established Megna Painting.

Today, Megna Painting has grown from Mike doing it all to establishing a trusted team and becoming Madison's highest-rated painting company. From humble beginnings to serving hundreds of new and returning clients each year, they've built a business rooted in trust, quality, and a strong sense of community. Meanwhile, the Megna family has also flourished, now including three daughters and a beloved family dog who are all part of the heart behind this homegrown family business.
